Baltimore based artist, Ashley Wilder, has been honing her skills in oil and acrylic paintings for the past several years. Originally, a student of history, Ashley has blended her affinity of the subject, specifically the African diaspora and the black cultural experiences within her artwork. Her style is modern with a nod to post-impressionism. Since 2013, she continues to incorporate her church upbringing and historical references throughout her work. For instance, the Tignon series featured women adorned with head-wraps in the style of enslaved and creole women worn in Antebellum Louisiana.

In a climate where black history remains under threat of erasure, she continues to bring history old and new into her work. Ashley has featured her artwork on Led Baltimore and premiered Noir Découvert, a solo exhibition at the Eubie Blake Center in February of 2017. During the Coronavirus pandemic, she has earned several new collectors with her Blue Apology series and a number of other works
